Investing In Cycling Paths And Supporting Gran Fondo

NT Government

The Lawler Labor Government invests in infrastructure and events which encourages Territorians to live healthy, active lifestyle.

Thousands of Territorians use cycling as a mode of transport or for exercise, and the Lawler Labor Government has upgraded shared pathways to create better connectivity for cyclists.

A crossing point to connect bike paths on McMillans Rd at North Lakes Shopping Centre has been installed.

The bike path at the intersection of Vanderlin and Leanyer Drives has been widen to allow for cyclists and people in wheelchairs.

The Government has also invested $530,000 for a new shared cycle and walk path between Stuart Park and Woolner.

A concrete shared path and ramp was constructed between Flinders Dr and Tiger Brennan Drive's shared path, to improve accessibility for users - especially school students travelling to and from nearby Stuart Park Primary School.

This weekend cyclists young and old are ramping up their preparations for the 2024 Sunbuild Top End Gran Fondo event.

Participants can take part in a range of categories on Sunday, July 21, allowing families who want to enjoy a casual ride to more seasoned riders taking on long distances to join in.

The range of distances gives cyclists of all abilities the chance to participate and encourages all Territorians to exercise and live a healthy lifestyle.

The categories for this year's event are:

- The 5km Cycle Zone Family Fun Ride

- The 15km AANT Short Fondo
