Investing In Our Sporting Facilities 29 July

NT Government

The Lawler Labor Government is continuing to invest in sporting facilities that encourage Territorians to live a healthy lifestyle.

Hockey NT has received a grant of $721,000 to re-surface one of their fields which requires urgent repairs.

The repairs will allow for games and training to resume on the field at the home of Hockey NT at Marrara.

The remainder of the funding will be used to support a range of activities that promote physical literacy, participation and pathways, particularly among Indigenous athletes, women and girls, and athletes with disabilities.

Sport and recreational activities are a major part of the Territory lifestyle. More than 1200 Territorians play hockey in Darwin and Alice Springs.

The grant aligns with the NT Sport and Active Recreation Strategic Plan: 2021-25, which sets out how to encourage participation in sport and active recreation among all Territorians, particularly at the grassroots level.
