IOM's World Migration Report Site Wins Top Innovation Award

IOM

The microsite of IOM's flagship report on migration, the World Migration Report (WMR), has won the Grand Prize in the 2024 International Innovation Awards for Excellence in Corporate Websites (iNOVA) .

The WMR microsite topped the non-profit organizations category, surpassing all other entrants in a competition that evaluates submissions from non-profits globally.

This iNOVA Grand Prize follows the successful launch of the World Migration Report 2024 and its accompanying microsite by IOM Director General Amy Pope in May 2024 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The 2024 edition marks the 12th in the World Migration Report series, which has been published biennially by IOM since 2000.

IOM Deputy Director General for Operations, Ms. Ugochi Daniels, welcomed the recognition, emphasizing: "This important award is a testament to the innovative efforts made to increase the report's utility and accessibility, a first-ever for IOM."

The microsite provides users with access to a range of digital tools, including the award-winning and highly dynamic World Migration Interactive Platform , which presents key data and analysis from the report in an engaging and interactive format.

It also hosts the World Migration Education Toolkit, an open-access, interactive set of resources widely used by educators in classrooms around the world. The toolkit includes fit-for-purpose classroom content such as data and case studies, as well as group-based scenario exercises designed to foster engagement and learning.

Responding to the award, Dr. Marie McAuliffe, Editor of the World Migration Report and Head of the Migration Research and Publications Division at IOM, highlighted the importance of collaboration: "This Grand Prize validates IOM's strong and enduring partnerships with leading migration and data visualization experts, both within and beyond IOM. These partnerships have been key to building and enhancing the WMR microsite and its diverse digital tools."

The World Migration Report microsite is available in all three of IOM's official languages-English, French, and Spanish-ensuring accessibility for global audiences.

The report and its digital tools are produced with support from various donors, including IOM Member States, private sector organizations, and philanthropic entities. These digital platforms are updated with each edition of the report to ensure their continued relevance and usability.
