Cessnock City Council invites the community to participate in the upcoming 2025 Seniors Festival, set to run from the 3 March until the 16 March.
In line with this year's theme Time to Shine, the festival program encompasses a diverse line up of events, focusing on unique and engaging activities, designed to connect seniors with a range of community organisations.
The program of events was developed around research demonstrating the '5 Ways to Wellbeing' (connection, being active, taking notice, learning, and giving) and includes activities such as a seniors portraiture photography exhibition, intergenerational skill building workshop, aqua fitness, Qi Gong Tai Chi, a wine tasting, high tea, chair yoga, free technology assistance, local history talks, and much more!
Mayor of Cessnock City Dan Watton said he was thrilled to support the festival and its theme this year, Time to Shine, which highlights the importance of recognising and embracing all senior community members within the community.
"The Seniors Festival is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the unique contributions, talents and stories that seniors bring to our local community every day," Clr Watton said.
"This year's theme, Time to Shine, reflects our commitment to embracing all senior residents and collectively working towards the enhancement of their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing through arts, music, heritage, Aboriginal culture, health initiatives, learning, and other special interest activities.
"I encourage everyone to make the most of this fantastic initiative and don't forget to secure your spots!"
Many of the events on offer are free, with some events requiring bookings. For more information and to view the full program of events, visit the event page here.
