Jackies HPC Marks Major Milestone

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Jackjumpers High Performance Centre has marked a major milestone today, with the Development Application advertised by the Kingborough Council.

Minister for Sports and Events, Nick Duigan, said this is a great example of the real progress our Government is making.

"The Government has worked closely with the JackJumpers and Kingborough Council to establish this permanent home, and we are thrilled to see this progress being made," Minister Duigan said.

"This state-of-the-art $15m facility, spanning approximately 5,500 square metres, will become the heart of the JackJumpers' operations, serving as the home of the entire Club.

"The new High-Performance Centre will turn the Kingborough Sports Precinct into a central recreational hub for the entire State.

Minister Duigan said Tasmanians have fully embraced the JackJumpers.

"This site will create further opportunities for our young basketballers and provide development pathways for the next generation," Minister Duigan said.

"It will also enhance the broader Kingborough Sports Precinct as a premier hub for sport and recreation in the state, with yesterday's announcement the adjacent site has been locked in for the Tasmania Devils' High Performance Centre, too.

"Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is about inspiring our people to get active, and giving them access to sporting infrastructure in the area they call home."

The application will be advertised for 14 days, with hopes the site could gain approval before Christmas.
