With over 25 years of experience in Infrastructure and Software Engineering, Jason's career has involved working with emerging infrastructure and application technologies. His background includes IT Transformation initiatives across the banking, healthcare, and Government sectors, including at ADBC Bank, Atos and Barclays.
In his new role, Jason will be responsible for SLC's technology strategy delivery, ensuring that SLC provides transformative technology solutions to customers and government partners. With the support of an experienced Senior Leadership Team, his priorities will include the on-going execution of robust and resilient technology solutions, including maintaining a reliable and secure student finance system, and continuing to build out the Shared Services architecture, Strategic User Interface, and modernising the wider application estate. This is especially important as SLC is playing a key role in delivering the UK Government's reforms to Higher Education, including the Lifelong Loan Entitlement.
Chris Larmer, CEO of SLC, commented: "Following a competitive and rigorous recruitment process, I am thrilled Jason has joined us as our new Chief Information Officer. With a varied career across the private and public sectors, Jason is bringing invaluable knowledge and expertise to SLC. He shares our passion for customer experience and together we will continue to execute our technology strategy, which is already making great strides, as well as focusing on enhancing how our customers interact with us."
Speaking about his appointment, Jason said: "SLC plays an important role in facilitating student opportunity across the UK and as CIO I am eager to contribute to the ongoing success of the organisation.
"My focus will be on delivering innovative, secure, and reliable technology solutions and I look forward to collaborating with the talented technology team as well as the wider organisation as we continue our technology transformation journey and make things better for customers."
Jason brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles and joins SLC from ADBC Bank in Abu Dhabi, where he held the role of Senior Vice President, Technology Platform, for the last eight years. Prior to this, he held technology leadership roles in digital transformation, CIO Strategy, application development, infrastructure and operations both in the public and private sectors in the UK.
He holds an MSc in Management & Information Technology from University of Surrey as well as a BA(Hons) in Politics & History from the University of London.
