James Cook University's graduates continue to be among the most employable in the country with JCU receiving a five-star rating from Australia's authoritative tertiary education guide - for the 14th year in a row.
The latest edition of The Good Universities Guide has rated JCU 5 out of 5 stars for undergraduate and postgraduate full-time employment – making it the only Queensland university to receive a five-star rating for undergraduate employment for the past 14 years.
The Guide also awarded JCU five stars for:
- Social equity (the proportion of students in a university's entire cohort of domestic students who are from a low socio-economic or disadvantaged background)
- Student teacher ratio, placing it within the top three of universities nationally and;
- Postgraduate student support
Adding to its success, JCU is currently ranked the best in Queensland for both undergraduate and postgraduate employment.
JCU Vice Chancellor Professor Simon Biggs said the results reflect JCU's ability to produce job-ready graduates who were both capable and adaptable in an ever-changing workforce.
"JCU is proud to offer a learning environment where our students not only succeed, but go on to thrive in their chosen careers," he said.
"That we have been able to maintain a five-star rating for undergraduate employment over such a long period of time is testament to the excellence of JCU's teaching staff, who work tirelessly to help our students realise their dreams."Our graduates continue to be in demand with strong career prospects, which shows the high quality of education that the University offers."
