Jenkins Visits Philippines, South Korea

Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Ambassador Bonnie D. Jenkins will travel to Manila, Philippines, from September 8-9 and to Seoul, Republic of Korea, from September 10-11, 2024.

While in Manila, Under Secretary Jenkins will attend the Philippines Strategic Trade Management Summit (PhSTM) at which President Marcos is expected to provide a keynote address. The Under Secretary will meet with Philippine government officials and other partners to discuss strengthening our bilateral relationship and promoting peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. In Seoul, Under Secretary Jenkins will head the U.S. delegation to the Second Annual Responsible AI in the Military Domain (REAIM) Summit. At the Summit, Under Secretary Jenkins will meet with officials from the Republic of Korea and other partner nations to discuss the opportunities, challenges, and risks associated with the use of artificial intelligence in military applications. The Summit furthers discussions on the Political Declaration on Responsible Military Use of Artificial Intelligence and Autonomy, which has been endorsed by over 50 nations since it was announced at the inaugural REAIM in 2023.
