Jessica Rowe excited to be part of Gala

Jessica Rowe 2021

Renowned television presenter, journalist and author, Jessica Rowe AM, is ready to share her experiences as the keynote speaker at Council's International Women's Day Gala this week.

The Gala will celebrate local women's achievements, raise awareness of women's equality, contribute to the gender parity journey and raise funds for Camden Meals on Wheels.

Ms Rowe said International Women's Day is very important to her and she was looking forward to the Gala.

"Camden is such an incredible community doing extraordinary things to support and enhance the lives of women and their families," Ms Rowe said.

"International Women's Day is very important to me. It's a chance to celebrate, reflect and connect with one another. I think about the trailblazers who paved the way for me to have the choices I have today as well as the young women who are making such an impact and difference.

"I'm passionate about sharing our stories and experiences - it's how we feel heard and understood. Also, it's going to be so special to have an event with people all together. Nothing is better than that face-to-face connection. It's the first time in a long time for me, so look out as I do love a chat."

Seven local businesses have also joined in supporting International Women's Day as sponsors for the event.

Macarthur BMW has signed on as a Gold Sponsor, with Gem Complete Health Services, Highland Shutters, Hamper Culture, In Fine Print & Digital Solutions, Kip McGrath Education Centres and McDonald's in Macarthur all joining as Bronze Sponsors.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said the event was set to raise much needed funds to continue supporting Camden Meals on Wheels.

"Hosting the International Women's Day Gala not only celebrates the achievements of local women, but it also goes a long way in Council continuing to provide support for the entire community," Cr Fedeli said.

"I'd like to thank all of our sponsors who have joined us in celebrating International Women's Day and I look forward to the event."

While the International Women's Day Gala is now sold out, residents are still able to donate to Camden Meals on Wheels.
