Singapore: Jetstar Asia (3K) launched its direct flights between Singapore and Labuan Bajo today, becoming the first airline to operate a non-stop service between the two destinations.
Flight 3K263 departed Singapore's Changi Airport this afternoon, marking the start of a convenient and affordable option for travellers looking to explore the island of Flores, the gateway to Komodo National Park and one of Indonesia's most picturesque coastal regions.
The Singapore low-cost carrier will operate two return flights a week, providing greater connectivity for travellers from Singapore, including international visitors transiting through Changi, as well as Indonesians looking for direct access to Singapore.
Jetstar Asia CEO, John Simeone, said the airline was proud to introduce this new route which strengthened the airline's presence in Indonesia and supported regional tourism.
"It's great to connect Labuan Bajo directly to Singapore, enabling more people to visit one of Indonesia's most stunning and unique destinations," Mr. Simeone said.
"From exploring the vibrant coral reefs and scenic landscapes of Flores to encountering the iconic Komodo dragons, this new service makes Labuan Bajo more accessible than ever, helping to boost tourism while providing a convenient travel option for those looking to explore more of Indonesia."
Labuan Bajo is Jetstar Asia's fifth Indonesian destination, joining Denpasar (Bali), Jakarta, Surabaya, and Medan.
Executive Vice President for Air Hub & Cargo Development, Changi Airport Group, Lim Ching Kiat, welcomed Jetstar Asia's inaugural flight to Labuan Bajo.
"This is Changi's first direct link to this natural paradise," Mr. Lim said.
"This new route not only boosts Changi's connectivity to Indonesia, it also strengthens our network in the region. With direct connections to 13 Indonesian cities now available from Changi Airport, travellers can explore the unique charm and unparalleled beauty of Labuan Bajo and beyond."
Head Officer of Komodo International Airport, Ceppy Triono, warmly welcomed Jetstar Asia's inaugural flight, emphasising the benefits of the new service.
"This direct route will strengthen global connectivity while boosting tourism and economic growth in the region," said Mr. Triono.

Acting President Director of Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority (BPOLBF), Fransiskus Teguh, highlighted the significance of the route in supporting the region's tourism development.
