Singapore: Jetstar Asia (3K) has announced a new route, offering seasonal direct flights between Singapore and Broome, Western Australia becoming the only airline to fly direct from the Lion City to Western Australia's world-renowned Kimberley region.
Taking off on 25 June 2024, the Singapore low-cost carrier will operate two return flights each week during Broome's dry season, offering direct access to the Kimberley region with its unrivalled natural beauty, pristine waters, stunning beaches, incredible wildlife, and tropical climate, making it a sought-after destination for travellers.
Travellers flying to Broome can immerse themselves in its iconic attractions, from the renowned Cable Beach to the rugged Kimberley wilderness. Broome offers an array of experiences, including cultural tours and culinary delights, ensuring a memorable visit for every traveller.
In return, Jetstar's low fares will provide customers from Australia's North West a direct link to Singapore, the multi-cultural city known for its famous landmarks, food and shopping, as well as seamless connectivity to Jetstar's extensive network out of Changi International Airport including Bangkok, Bali, and Okinawa.
Jetstar Asia CEO, John Simeone said as Jetstar Asia prepared to celebrate its 20th birthday later this year, he was delighted to announce Broome would be added to the airline's growing network.
"Just over four hours away from Singapore, Broome is an amazing destination for those looking for a holiday of a lifetime," Mr. Simeone said.
"This new route, combined with our low fares, underscores our commitment to providing customers with a diverse range of destinations and incredible travel experiences.
"I want to thank the Western Australian Government and Broome International Airport for their ongoing support and collaboration to make this happen."
Western Australian Deputy Premier and Tourism Minister, Rita Saffioti said today's announcement marked a significant leap forward in expanding WA's aviation capacity through an entirely new gateway into the state.
"We are very excited to provide international visitors with direct access to Western Australia's stunning Kimberley region," Ms. Saffioti said.
"This Singapore to Broome service presents an incredible opportunity to turbocharge international visitor numbers to Australia's North West, and inject millions into the region's accommodation, hospitality and tourism businesses.
"It will also provide a new international entry point into Western Australia and offer many more itinerary options for overseas visitors from around the world, through Singapore's Changi Airport as a major global hub, to help transform how visitors explore our magnificent state."
Broome International Airport's CEO, Craig Shaw praised Jetstar Asia for their commitment to the service.
"International connections to Broome as 'The Gateway to the Kimberley Region' have been a long-held ambition for the local tourism industry and the airport, and we are extremely pleased that Jetstar Asia recognises the region's desirability as a visitor destination," said Mr. Shaw.
"This connectivity also brings Broome closer to the rest of the world, providing fantastic holiday and travel options for residents of the North West looking to save time and money by flying direct to Singapore, and then to any number of onward destinations."
Changi Airport Group's Executive Vice President for Air Hub & Cargo Development, Mr. Lim Ching Kiat said that Changi Airport was delighted to be the first international airport link for Broome.
"Changi Airport congratulates Jetstar Asia on the launch of its new service, making Singapore the first international point out of Broome. The addition of Broome expands Changi's connectivity to eight cities in Australia, making us the most connected international gateway to Australia," Mr. Lim said.
"With Jetstar also launching Perth to Singapore services later this year, travellers will have even more options to travel between Western Australia and Singapore, as well as connecting to cities in the region."
