The Mornington Peninsula's very own 'Oscars of the heritage world' were held on Thursday 8 June at Mornington Council chambers.
The 2023 Heritage Awards celebrated some shining examples from our local community who've preserved and restored heritage places on our Peninsula.
The awards are a joint program of the Shire and the National Trust Mornington Peninsula branch, President Judy Walsh of the Trust revealed this year's winners.
The winners are:
Restoration of a heritage place
- St Andrews Church, Rye
- Edna Dunk Memorial Clock Tower, Rosebud
- McCrae Lighthouse
- Continental Hotel, Sorrento.
Sustainability and/or greening of a heritage place
- Koala Habitat, Somers.
Individual award for service to heritage restoration on the Mornington Peninsula:
- Judy Walsh, president, National Trust Mornington Peninsula.
Excellence in interpretation:
- Mornington Old Post Office
- Red Hill Station Reserve.
