Jindabyne Pool reopens

Following its closure due to safety concerns, Council is pleased to announce that Jindabyne Pool will reopen to the public at 11am today, Monday 15 November 2021.

This is a temporary solution that gives the people of Jindabyne safe access to their pool while preparations are made to address the structural and HVAC problems permanently.

In order to have Jindabyne Pool reopen in time for summer, Council engaged the services of a local builder and a specialist mould treatment organisation from Canberra to ensure the facility is safe for the community to enjoy again.

This temporary solution will ensure the mould - one of the reasons for the closure - does not return, but the HVAC system still needs to be replaced. There are significant structural works in the ceiling and roof that still need to be undertaken after the air conditioning system is replaced. Council is currently finalising funding arrangements for the structural work, with works expected to commence early in 2022.

Council will consult with the community and pool staff on the exact timing of the construction work. The pool will need to be closed while this work is completed. While the building is now safe for the public when high wind events are forecast the facility may need to close at short notice - out of an abundance of caution for the safety of users and staff.

Council thanks the community of Jindabyne and everyone who uses the Jindabyne Pool for their patience and understanding during the closure.
