Jingle All Way To Fitzroy Plaza

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Tamworth, and the whole family can get involved with the Lighting of the Christmas Tree on Wednesday 4 December.

Kicking off at 5:30pm in Fitzroy Plaza, the event will include performances from Dance Dynamics and the Tamworth City Dance Academy, live music by Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music and the Tamworth and District Highland Society City Pipe Band.

"The Community Lighting of the Christmas Tree is a highlight of the Tamworth event calendar," said Tamworth Regional Council Event Officer Natasha Little.

"It's great to see so many people want to come together to celebrate the year we have had."

Over 20 market stalls will be at the event, including face painting, BBQs, gifts and more. A Christmas Beetle , a dazzling light projection by artist Daniel Elliott will play on buildings in Fitzroy Street, and Santa Claus will make an appearance to visit the Baiada Santa's Workshop.

"We are thrilled to have Baiada on board as sponsors of Santa's Workshop for 2024," said Mrs Little.

"This support and that of our Community Event Partners make these wonderful events possible."

The Baiada Santa's Workshop will include craft activities where kids can make a Christmas decoration to take home, and of course an important mailbox for letters to Santa. The workshop will also be open on Saturday 7 and 14 December from 9am-12pm for the community to enjoy in the lead-up to Christmas.

A new addition to the workshop this year is a sensory space run by the team at Uniting for those who require it.

The festivities for the lighting of the Christmas Tree start from 5:30pm at Fitzroy Plaza.
