The Liberal and Nationals Government's Wagga Wagga Jobs Fair will bring together job seekers and businesses in and around the region on Friday 25 February at the Kyeamba Smith Hall, Wagga Wagga Showgrounds.
Member for Riverina Michael McCormack encouraged job seekers in Wagga Wagga to take advantage of everything the jobs fair had to offer.
"With skills shortages in many industries, this is a great time to be looking for work," Mr McCormack said.
"The unemployment rate in regional Australia is at 3.8 per cent and, in January, the Regional Australia Institute has identified 72,300 regional job vacancies, which means employers are actively looking for job seekers.
"These jobs fairs are a fantastic way to meet employers face to face and get a foot in the door."
Minister for Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business, the Hon Stuart Robert MP, said the jobs fair would promote a wide range of employment opportunities for job seekers looking to get into work.
"The Morrison Government is committed to connecting job seekers with businesses looking to hire," Minister Robert said.
"Getting Australians back to work is at the heart of our Economic Recovery Plan.
"As Minister for Employment, I am determined to ensure that job seekers in Wagga Wagga and the wider community are given all the assistance they need."
Assistant Minister for Youth and Employment Services, the Hon Luke Howarth MP, said the fairs had been held around Australia for four years now and had been successful in connecting thousands of job seekers with those looking to hire.
"More than 62,400 people have attended 54 jobs fairs since they began in 2018," Assistant Minister Howarth said.
"We want to help as many people from the Murray-Riverina Employment Region as possible to find work and improve their prospects, through upskilling and reskilling. Job fairs are proving to be highly effective in helping us achieve this goal."
The Murray-Riverina Employment Region encompasses 13 local government authorities, with the two largest being Wagga Wagga and Griffith. The others include Snowy Valleys, Federation, Murray River, Leeton, Junee, Temora and Narrandera.
