Joint Efforts Protect University Systems

At Cornell, students and employees alike develop the skills and tools they need to identify and resolve the issues they face in their world. These problem-solving journeys are seldom traveled alone and in his January 2025 HR Staff Story, Associate Chief Information Security Officer Tim Bradish stresses the importance of internal and cross-functional teams.

Everybody at Cornell plays a part in the overall security of the institution, and it's rewarding to collaborate with different offices and teams to support their goals while protecting the institution as a whole.

Tim Bradish, Associate Chief Information Security Officer

Balancing his collaborative nature with deep roots in diagnosing security vulnerabilities and teaching forensic investigation skills to law enforcement professionals like the Secret Service and FBI, Bradish manages a team that helps colleagues across the university shield and strengthen their services and systems against attack. He attributes his team's success to their ability to work together and with local experts to identify both risks and opportunities.

"It's a privilege to work in an environment where every challenge offers an opportunity to grow," Bradish said. "Cornell is made up of so many unique areas, each with its own mission, from the golf course to the art museum. My team and I are dedicated to understanding those missions and finding ways to mitigate risks while building trust across the university. Everybody at Cornell plays a part in the overall security of the institution, and it's rewarding to collaborate with different offices and teams to support their goals while protecting the institution as a whole."
