The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will welcome Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, to Canada on March 18, 2024.
The ministers will meet to discuss ways to enhance the growing Canada-Iraq relationship, including through diplomatic engagement and cooperation bilaterally and multilaterally, and expansion of bilateral trade.
During the visit, Minister Joly and Minister Hussein will also engage on peace and security challenges in the Middle East, including their countries' respective efforts to counter Daesh through the Global Coalition Against Daesh. Minister Joly will seek Minister Hussein's views on the country's efforts to combat climate change.
