The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met yesterday with Abdullah Ali al-Yahya, Kuwait's Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Kuwait City.
The two ministers discussed the strong Canada-Kuwaiti bilateral relationship, which will mark its 60th anniversary in 2025, and agreed to work together to deepen it further. The two ministers also discussed their countries' shared commitment to international law and international security.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed regional security, and Minister Joly commended Minister al-Yahya for his government's constructive role in the region. Minister Joly expressed Canada's thanks to Minister al-Yahya for Kuwait's hosting of Canadian military personnel at the Ali Al Salem Air Base.
