Principal Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer met today with Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille. Mr. Finer reaffirmed the United States' unwavering support for the people of Haiti, who have suffered at the hands of gangs for too long, with nearly five million people now in need of emergency food aid. Mr. Finer and Mr. Conille discussed the initial deployment of the United Nations-authorized Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission to Haiti. Mr. Finer reiterated the United States' strong support for the integration of robust accountability and oversight mechanisms into the mission. The two committed to continued close cooperation in support of improved security, economic growth, and democratic governance in Haiti.
