Today (Friday, March 31, 2023), the 58th state competition 'Jugend forscht' was decided at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Eight projects have qualified for the federal final. They range from a broom cleaning device to the detection of Savi's pipistrelle in the city of Lörrach to a system reducing the loss of power of photovoltaic systems due to shading or soiling.

In a high-quality competition with 58 projects in seven disciplines, eight projects have qualified for the federal final that will take place in Bremen from May 18 to 21. "The projects presented here in the state final of the 'Jugend forscht' competition prove that young people are interested in complex scientific questions and can answer them," says Professor Holger Hanselka, President of KIT, which hosted the state competition this year. "I was very impressed by the high number of young researchers who concentrated on topics like climate change, healthcare, and an aging society and, hence, addressed our our most urgent problems. I cordially congratulate the winners and wish them much success in the final."
