Just Farmer Film Sparks Talk on Farm Mental Health

Bass Coast farmers and their families are invited to a special screening of Just a Farmer, a powerful film that showcases the resilience and strength of rural communities while shedding light on our unique mental health challenges. The film, produced in regional Victoria, aims to break down stigma and encourage open conversations about mental health in farming communities.

The screening will take place on Thursday, 8 May 2025, at The Union Theatre, Wonthaggi, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Tickets are $10, including light supper. While the film is rated MA15+, audience members 17+ are recommended due to the nature of discussions. Support services will be available on the day.

To help open dialogue around suicide and mental health support, the film will be followed by a message from writer, producer and actor Leila McDougall and a short panel discussion. Panel members will share resources available to farmers and their families and offer practical advice on navigating mental health challenges.
