- Freehold land transfer to Shire of Northampton for workers accommodation in Kalbarri
- Accommodation development will help attract and retain staff in the region to support local businesses and tourism
The Cook Government has reached agreement with the Shire of Northampton to transfer Crown land for the development of workers accommodation in Kalbarri.
The site will be transferred to the Shire of Northampton, in freehold, at nominal value.
The transfer of land at nominal value recognises the benefits of workers accommodation to the local community.
Comments attributed to Lands Minister John Carey:
"The State Government's commitment was to make suitable land available, in consultation with the local government, for workers accommodation in Kalbarri and we delivered that commitment.
"I want to acknowledge the Shire of Northampton, who have worked proactively with the State Government, to realise the potential of the site for their local community."
