An upgrade to an important transport link and popular tourist route on the West Coast has been completed.
Minister for Parks and Environment, Nick Duigan said works on the Kanunnah Bridge at Arthur's River are now complete.
"The Tasmania Liberal Government invested $2.1 million to this important project, through the Boost Maintenance Funding Program," Minister Duigan said.
"The upgrades included improvements to the piers and the installation of new bridge barriers.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania own the bridge due to its location in the Trowutta Regional Reserve.
Minister for Infrastructure, Michael Ferguson, said the project was managed by the Department of State Growth.
"The project was an excellent opportunity for two Government Agencies to work together to deliver a successful outcome," Minister Ferguson said.
"The project was delivered in two stages, with stage one works commencing in March 2022 and involved bridge strengthening by adding additional steel.
"This stage was completed in July 2022 and resulted in the 27-tonne temporary load limit being removed.
"Stage two works commenced onsite in September 2023 and were completed in March 2024. These works included improvements to the piers and the installation of new bridge barriers."
