"We prioritise strengthening our presence on platforms that better match our needs and values, such as Bluesky, Linkedin and other relevant channels for research communication and news from the university", says Peter Andréasson, Director of Communications.
The decision to deactivate KI's account on X is driven by the fierce debate climate on the platform and the need to choose the right platforms for KI's target groups. "Changes in the platform's guidelines, features and overall direction have influenced our decision, as they have changed our ability to conduct effective and credible communication," Andréasson continues.
Individual KI researchers and departments with their own accounts can continue to use X if they wish. However, the decision applies to the university-wide account on X, which is managed by the Communications Department. "We want to ensure that we use our resources efficiently. This applies to social media and everything else, and we are now reallocating resources to other accounts," says Andréasson.
