Kate Dorrough to Discuss Mother-Daughter Art Practices

Sydney-based painter and ceramicist Kate Dorrough will lead an insightful Artist Talk next week about her own practice, her mentor and mother Heather's practice, and how the two have intersected across time.

The talk comes as accompaniment to Dorrough's dynamic, contemporary exhibition entitled Lineage, currently showing at Ararat Gallery TAMA. The works within Lineage include textiles, paintings, prints, ceramics, sculpture and video, and present Kate responding directly to her mother's artworks and processes, creating a dialogue which explores personal memory.

The multi-disciplinary works of mother and daughter explore the links between arts and crafts, female ancestry, body and landscape, environmental issues and more.

Kate Dorrough's work has led to an extensive career exhibiting at leading galleries in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra, as well as a number of residencies and prizes.

This event will run for 45 - 60 minutes, followed by a Q&A with attendees. Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be provided. Bookings can be made via Ararat Gallery TAMA's website.
