This week, Tasmania Police is conducting a coordinated statewide traffic enforcement effort aimed at enhancing road safety
Acting Assistant Commissioner Doug Oosterloo said drivers, passengers, cyclists and pedestrians all have a role to play in reducing road trauma and making our roads safer.
"We must all take responsibility for our actions and make safer choices," he said.
"Tasmania Police is committed to reducing the number of deaths and injuries on our roads, which is why we conduct a range of enforcement activities to make our roads safer for everyone."
"This week we're coordinating a statewide traffic enforcement effort, to enhance road safety across Tasmania."
"As always, we will be focusing on the 'Fatal Five' contributors to road deaths and serious crashes: speed, seatbelts, alcohol and drugs, distraction and fatigue."
"Our new highway patrol vehicles will be out for their first official duties, and officers will be particularly focused on rural areas."
"Collaboration between police and the community is essential to keeping our roads safe, and members of the public are encouraged to contact us if they witness reckless or dangerous driving, hooning, or other offences."
"We're urging all road users to prioritise safety, adhere to road rules, and remain vigilant on our roads."
To report dangerous driving, call police on 131 44 or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
