Kellie Parker Replaces Mike Henry on BCA Board

The Business Council of Australia has appointed Rio Tinto's Chief Executive, Australia, Kellie Parker, as a director, replacing BHP CEO Mike Henry, who has stepped down.

Business Council President Geoff Culbert welcomed Kellie Parker to the Board, and commended her deep experience and important role in future business advocacy.

"Kellie Parker's experience in the resources sector will be invaluable for the Board, particularly as we advocate for long-term prosperity for all Australians through sustained economic growth," Mr Culbert said.

Rio Tinto Chief Executive, Australia, Kellie Parker, said "I look forward to supporting the Business Council of Australia's work to strive for a stronger Australia and ensure that as business succeeds, so too do the communities in which it operates."

"The global energy transition makes this a pivotal time for industry. It is important for Australia to capitalise on opportunities from the transition while also maintaining and improving competitiveness, productivity and policies to promote trade and investment.

"Business has a key role in achieving these outcomes for the prosperity of all Australians."

Concurrently, BHP Chief Executive Mike Henry will step down from the Board after serving as a BCA Director for 2.5 years. Mr Culbert thanked him for his many years of service and strong advocacy for the business community.

"Mike Henry has been an outstanding Board member and a champion for the positive impact business can deliver to the Australian community through jobs, economic growth, and stronger communities," Mr Culbert said.

"I know Mike will continue to remain a very active member of the Business Council and continue to contribute to our advocacy program."

BHP CEO Mike Henry said "I have valued the opportunity to contribute as a member of the BCA Board and highly value and respect the important role the BCA play in Australia's economic and social policy dialogue. I look forward to continuing to be engaged in the work of the BCA and making a constructive and supportive contribution to that work."

Ms Parker joins President Geoff Culbert, Commonwealth Bank Chief Executive Matt Comyn, Wesfarmers Managing Director Rob Scott, NAB Board Director Alison Kitchen, Google Managing Director Mel Silva, Dow Australia & New Zealand Managing Director Karen Dobson, Gilbert & Tobin Managing Partner Danny Gilbert and Chief Executive Bran Black on the BCA Board.
