Citywide trucks are out in South Melbourne, Middle Park and Albert Park today, attending to scheduled collection services plus missed bins.
Continuing to support the Citywide fleet are redeployed Council staff, with our trucks focusing on missed bin collections across Port Phillip. All crews attending to missed bin requests are also keeping an eye out for any missed bins that might not have been reported to us, as they work through the backlog of missed bin pickups.
To ensure that progress is being made towards restoring service levels, we are conducting an inhouse audit process. Council officers are conducting daily audits, concentrating on those areas that have had missed bin collections in the last two weeks since Citywide commenced delivering kerbside waste collection services in Port Phillip.
Each morning, our audit team is double-checking areas that were scheduled for collection the day prior, to verify that collection has taken place. If any of your bins have not been emptied by the morning after your scheduled kerbside collection day, please report the missed bins to us as soon as possible.
We are aware that some customer requests for missed bin collections have been closed off as 'bin not found' after Citywide crews have attended the address, in instances where the bins might be located in a laneway at the rear or side of the property. We sincerely apologise for any missed bin requests being closed off prematurely and are working closely with our contractors to ensure that laneways and streets are thoroughly checked before taking this action. If your request for bin collection has been closed off but your bin has not yet been emptied, please report it to us through the Snap Send Solve app or My Port Phillip via our website.
Access to the Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) is still currently available at no charge to Port Phillip residents and businesses who wish to drop off their mixed recycling or bagged garbage that has been missed in the scheduled kerbside waste collection service. Visit the RRC from 7.30 am to 3.30 pm on weekdays or between 9 am and 1 pm on weekends, and simply provide proof of your address at the entry gate. And our communal recycling hubs for Glass and Food Organics are also still available for use by anyone in Port Phillip - please visit our website for a list of locations.
