Key Changes Announced for Aged Care Assessments in Nillumbik

The Commonwealth Government has made changes to its Aged Care Assessment Service and who it funds to deliver this service.

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) provides funding for entry level support services to assist eligible older people, to remain living independently at home and in their community.

To determine eligibility for the CHSP, an aged care assessment is required.

In the past local councils in Victoria have received funding to deliver the Aged Care Assessment service within their local area. However, as part of the changes that the Commonwealth Government is making to its aged care services model, funding agreements for local councils to provide this service locally will cease on 30 June.

From 1 July, Aged Care Assessment services will be delivered by other agencies and across a broad range of municipalities.

Please be assured that if you are currently on a waitlist for an aged care assessment, you will maintain your place on that waiting list until contacted by a My Aged Care representative.
