Planning and building activity from the first quarter of 2024-2025 reflects the ongoing growth in development across the City.
A total of 117 development planning application determinations and 151 building permits were issued between 1 July and 30 September 2024.
The planning determinations amount to $47.3 million in development value, with the largest application from this quarter being fitout activities for 242 Murray Street, to transform the space into an 'Apple' flagship store.
The building permits issued this quarter amount to $544.9 million in value. Key projects included the:
- dwelling and commercial tenancy works at 110 Plain Street to revitalise the East Perth precinct at a value of $145.5 million
- mixed use development at 195 Pier Street to address the need for affordable and diverse housing at a value of $142.3 million, and
- internal and external refurbishments to 'Hyde' hotel on Pier Street at a value of $15 million.
During the last quarter, there were also four dwellings granted development approval, taking the total number of dwelling building permits to 508.
The City's commitment to supporting sustainable growth and development was on show again during the quarter. Excellent service delivery standards were maintained, ensuring that 99% of development applications and 100% of building applications were processed within statutory timeframes.
