Gender equality expert and thought leader Dr Kathryn J Evans has been announced as the keynote speaker for the Women in Life Sciences Luncheon in Sydney on 10 March 2023, co-hosted by AusBiotech and Medicines Australia.
Dr Evans has over 25 years of international management experience working with world leading life science companies, such as Roche, Cochlear and Sanofi, and is the author of the recently published Advance Australia Fairly: How a Plan for Gender Equality can Drive Australia's Economic Success. At this must-attend event for the life sciences sector, she will share some evidence-based insights from her research and why Australia needs a national plan towards gender equality.
As one of Australia's leading experts in research on women in senior leadership, Dr Evans was awarded a Doctor of Business Administration for her work in this field and in 2020 her research findings were published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Human Resources.
At the Women in Life Sciences Luncheon 2023, Dr Evans will reveal her findings on where Australia sits in world rankings when it comes to gender equity, what progress has been made and what more needs to be done. Importantly, she will share some of her own personal experiences and demonstrate how closing the gender gap can contribute significantly to Australia's economic success.
The annual Women in Life Sciences Luncheon is timed to celebrate International Women's Day, on 8 March, and brings together up to 550 leaders and future leaders. It is focused on connecting the community to encourage, support, and further develop women in the life sciences sector in order to achieve a more equal standing in the biotech, pharma and medtech workplace.

Make a commitment: The successful 'Big Sisters' programme will again invite women advanced in their careers in the sector to sponsor a student to attend the event and facilitate their networking during the Luncheon. Up to 30 women students will be sponsored to attend the event and receive a one-year membership of AusBiotech.
