KI President Annika Östman Wernerson has been elected as a member of IVA's Biotechnology Division. This took place in connection with the Academy meeting in November, when IVA, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, elected 41 new Swedish and international members - prominent researchers and experts from both the business community and the public sector.
IVA was founded over 100 years ago and is the world's oldest engineering academy. It brings together the expertise and experience of around 1,300 elected Academy members and 250 companies.
KI President Annika Östman Wernerson is now a member of IVA's Biotechnology Division.
"I am honoured by IVA's confidence and look forward to developing the collaboration with researchers and experts in various activities and areas of expertise. We live in complex and troubled times, and the more bridges that are built between disciplines, the better the conditions for dealing with the challenges that society and research need to tackle," says Annika Östman Wernerson .
Annika Östman Wernerson is professor of kidney and transplantation science and senior consultant in clinical pathology at Karolinska University Hospital. She took over as president of Karolinska Institutet on 1 March 2023.
