When Times Higher Education in the UK publishes its ranking of the world's best universities, KI is ranked 49th out of more than 2,000 universities in 115 countries. This means that KI has the highest ranking in the Nordic region.
Times Higher Education's (THE) World Ranking 2024/25 takes into account publication and faculty data as well as reputation surveys.
It lists higher education and research institutions from around the world, regardless of specialisation. In this evaluation, KI is ranked 49th in the world, 14th in Europe and 6th in the EU.
The University of Oxford retains its first-place ranking of nine years, while the American MIT now climbs to second place as Stanford slips to sixth on the list.
Chinese universities are also starting to approach the top 10 for the first time, increasing their impact in international research.
Updated subject rankings from THE, including Clinical and Health, will be published later this autumn.
