- Vestas to undertake construction of Synergy's King Rocks Wind Farm
- Project to feature 17 wind turbines with capacity to power up to 70,000 average homes in WA
- Construction expected to create 200 jobs in regional WA
- Part of Cook Labor Government's $5.4 billion investment since 2017 in onshore wind, large-scale battery storage, and transmission
Synergy has appointed Vestas to build its King Rocks Wind Farm, which is expected begin powering households and businesses throughout WA's south west by 2027.
Vestas - which is also expanding Warradarge Wind Farm on behalf of Bright Energy Investments (BEI), a joint venture between Synergy, Cbus Super and CVC DIF - will supply and install 17 wind turbines on-site with the capacity to generate up to 105 megawatts of renewable energy.
That's enough capacity to power up to 70,000 average homes in WA.
Construction of the wind farm is set to deliver a significant economic boost to regional WA, with about 200 jobs to be created during the project's construction.
The Cook Labor Government has committed $513 million towards the project.
That funding forms part of a broader $5.4 billion investment by the Cook Labor Government since 2017 into WA's energy future, with Synergy having already built two large-scale batteries in Kwinana and a third in Collie that will support the expansion of onshore wind in WA's energy mix.

As stated by Energy Minister Reece Whitby:
"The Cook Labor Government's vision for WA's energy future is clear.
"We want households and businesses to access clean, reliable, and affordable energy, which can be provided by a mix of rooftop solar and onshore wind, backed by large-scale battery storage, and firmed by gas as required.
"King Rocks Wind Farm will be an important part of our State's future energy mix.
"With the awarding of this contract, Western Australians can rest assured knowing the future of our State's energy system is secure."
