An expert in business and information technology is among members of The University of Queensland community named in the 2024 King's Birthday Honours List.
UQ researchers, academics, alumni and philanthropists are among 737 Australians recognised for their service.
Former UQ staff member, Emeritus Professor Ron Weber was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to tertiary education, to accounting and information system development, and to professional associations.
"I am very honoured to have received the Award. With so many people making wonderful contributions to our communities, however, I still don't have a good answer to the question: 'Why me?'" Emeritus Professor Weber said.
"Awards are usually an outcome of the support an awardee receives throughout their life from many people. As an academic, my supporters have been family, friends, colleagues, and students - I am most grateful to them all."

- Ms Felicity Young has been appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to public health, particularly to those living with HIV/AIDS, and to gender equality and human rights.

Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM)
- Dr Belinda Clarke (Hunter) has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to medicine, particularly pathology.
- Ms Tania Frazer has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to music as a soloist and chamber musician.
- Ms Shauna Hicks has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to community history.
- Dr Janine Philippa O'Keeffe (Porter-Steele) has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to nursing.

Public Service Medal (PSM)
- Mr James Eynstone-Hinkins has been awarded a Public Service Medal (PSM) for outstanding public service through his substantial contribution to the Australian Government in the field of data and statistics in public health, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Mr Gary McCahon has been awarded a Public Service Medal (PSM) for outstanding public service to corrective services in New South Wales and Queensland.
