Kingston Heath Reserve is the new home of the much-loved Kingston Farmers' Market.
The relocation from Highett is necessary to ensure the market can continue to operate, as works are expected to begin on the Suburban Rail Loop East in Sir William Fry Reserve from late this year.
Kingston Mayor Hadi Saab said Kingston Heath Reserve is the ideal new space for the monthly market.
"Home to the Botanic Gardens, the reserve provides a tranquil, leafy-green space with natural shade, extensive paths, public toilets, and plenty of seating," Cr Saab said.
"The market will be a great addition to the Cheltenham community, offering a range of stallholders supporting local Victorian farmers and artisanal producers. Same local traders. Same quality produce. New fresh location.
"The first market at Kingston Heath Reserve is scheduled for Saturday 4 February so bring your friends and family down to celebrate the launch of its new home.
"The market space is right beside the popular playground and surrounded by picnic settings and barbecues, so market day promises to be a fun day out for the whole family."
With support from Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA), the new market location is being upgraded to feature improved storage facilities, an upgraded power supply and a mural.
Chicquita Ward Councillor Tracey Davies said the market was an exciting change for the reserve.
"I am sure all the residents in the area and visitors to the park will welcome the opportunity to see our great market, Cr Davies said.
"It's a pity it had to be moved from Sir William Fry, but it also gives the stallholders a chance to build their customer bases. I am looking forward to visiting and seeing the market flourish in the new location."
Wattle Ward Councillor Jenna Davey-Burns said Council is working closely with the SRLA on the future of Sir William Fry Reserve.
"We remain fully committed and focused on achieving the best possible outcome for this important community space and the broader community," Cr Davey-Burns said.
The Kingston Farmers' Market is held on the first Saturday of the month (except January), with entry via a $2 donation to the Chelsea Rotary Club.
