North Brisbane District police have charged a 21-year-old Urangan man after he was allegedly found to be in possession of drugs and a knife during a wanding operation at a train station in Toowong.
It will be alleged shortly before 11am on February 12, Brisbane City Tactical Crime Squad stopped the man for wanding and located a small quantity meth, stolen cards and a spring-loaded knife.
The man has been charged with one count each of possess knife in a public place, possess tainted property and possess dangerous drugs.
He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 18.
The seizure is in addition to other knives recently identified by North Brisbane police during proactive patrols.
Shortly before 6.30pm on February 6, Ferny Grove officers observed a vehicle with no registration plates fuelling at a petrol station on Samford Road, Mitchelton.
Officers intercepted the vehicle and located a flick knife inside the side door.
A 17-year-old boy has been issued a notice to appear for driving and unregistered and uninsured vehicle, possession of a category M weapon and possess knife in public place.
He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 28.
Shortly before 8.30pm on February 6, Ferny Grove officers conducted a street check of a group of people on Samford Road, Mitchelton.
It will be alleged a 26-year-old Narangba man was in possession of large knife.
The man has been charged with possession of a knife in a public place.
He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 26.
North Brisbane District Inspector Matthew Blunn says every unlawful weapon seized helps to increase community safety.
"We are committed to continuing to implement Jack's Law and these wanding activities, to prevent the devastation which can result from someone possessing a knife," Inspector Blunn said.
"Our message is simple, if you are in possession of an unlawful weapon, you will have a day in court.
"Community safety is our top priority which is why we regularly conduct proactive patrols, street checks and wide scale operations to detect and deter any offences which put the community at risk.
"We will continue to proactively conduct street checks and continue to run operations to keep weapons off North Brisbane streets."
