Kogarah Bay, Carlton Traffic Study Enters Next Phase

Georges River Council

Georges River Council has confirmed a traffic impact assessment as the next stage of the Princes Highway/Jubilee Avenue and Princes Highway/Park Road Intersection Study.

Council has budgeted $40,000 to facilitate completion of the assessment, with the aim to improve the flow of local traffic, reduce congestion and improve safety.

The contract for this work will be awarded by the end of this week, with work commencing shortly after. The data collection will take place at the intersections of the Jubilee Avenue and the Princes Highway, and Park Road at the Princes Highway.

Once the relevant data has been obtained, it will be analysed and modelled with recommendations to be put forward in a draft report to Council and Transport for NSW (TfNSW), as the Princes Highway is a state road.

Once TfNSW has reviewed and approved the draft report, Council will consult with the community via Your Say in March 2025. These views will then be taken into consideration, forming part of the final report.

Georges River Council Mayor Elise Borg said the traffic impact assessment is vital toward creating safer roads for our community.

"By understanding the patterns and needs of our roads and users, we can enhance mobility and safety for our community. This will help us identify the improvements we can make and ultimately improve the flow of traffic and reduce congestion.

"We've listened to the concerns raised by residents about the congestion and safety at these two intersections and we're committed to ensuring the community is thoroughly consulted to find the best solution," said the Mayor.

The final report and recommendations will be provided to Council in April 2025.
