Council has modified road closures along Kookora Street and Walla Avenue while works are being undertaken to construct a new roundabout.
Due to unsafe behaviour from a number of motorists speeding along the channel bank between Walla Avenue and Griffin Avenue, there will be no through access along the channel bank. The free camping at Willow Park is still available with entry and exit via Griffin Avenue only. The amenities block and dump point are also still available.
Griffith City Council received $1M from the Australian Government's Black Spot Program to construct a single-lane roundabout including, medians, line marking, lighting and signage.
The intersection at Kookora Street and Walla Avenue will be closed during construction for the entire 16 weeks. This is specifically Walla Avenue (between Benerembah Street and Yarrabee Street), and Kookora Street (between Griffin Avenue and Murrumbidgee Avenue), from Tuesday 6 August until Saturday 30 November 2024.
