Labor Axes Local Butcher From NSW Hospitals

NSW Nationals

Federal Nationals Member for Page, Kevin Hogan, has slammed Labor for its decision to dump South Lismore's Hutley Bros. Butchery from supplying local hospitals.

Mr Hogan said Hutley's has had a long-standing contract to supply meat to health facilities across the whole health district.

"The majority of meat used for this contract was supplied from local wholesalers and processors. This cancellation has serious flow on affects for this business, our local meat workers, and beef farming families," he said.

"It is another shameful decision by a city-centric government that clearly doesn't care for our community."

Mr Hogan said Hutley's have been a family-owned and operated business in our community for 144 years, and this decision will have a massive impact.

"It is another kick in the guts to a business who just reinvested in our town, spending a lot of money to reopen after the floods.

"We now have no local milk, no local meat… who's next?"

"Labor doesn't get or care about our regional communities."

The decision to dump Hutley Bros comes after Labor and NSW Health scrapped Norco as the milk supplier to hospitals from Port Macquarie to Tweed.
