Labor Can't Be Trusted On Salmon

Tasmanian Government

Federal Labor cannot be trusted to keep Tasmanian salmon jobs safe.

Minister for Business, Industry and Resources, Eric Abetz, said State Labor has taken the bait hook line and sinker.

"If Dean Winter truly believes his political masters in Canberra will change the law after the election, he may as well believe in the tooth fairy," Minister Abetz said.

"Tasmanians can see clear as day that this is another political con job from a failing Federal Labor Government.

"Has Dean Winter asked his Federal counterparts the questions all Tasmanians are thinking right now?

"Why wasn't this decision made 12 months ago?

"Tanya Plibersek holds the pen, and if Labor does a deal with the Greens after the next federal election, salmon jobs will be the first to go.

"This Tasmanian Liberal Government is the strongest supporter of our world-class west coast salmon industry, and we won't rest until salmon jobs are protected by law."
