Labor Doesn't Support Roads And Bridge Funding

Tasmanian Government

Tasmania's best interests have been shoved aside by Labor as they choose politics over unity.

Labor has confirmed that critical roads and bridge projects would not proceed.

Under the cover of darkness, Labor last night voted against 80:20 funding ratio for Tasmania.

This means the Bridgewater Bridge wouldn't exist.

The 10-year Midlands Highway Action Plan wouldn't have occurred, and roads would not have been upgraded.

And astonishingly, the Sorell Bypass and South East Traffic solution wouldn't be happening.

Under Labor's plan, the Bridgewater Bridge would have received $235.8 million less federal funding.

Under Labor's plan, the Midland Highway Action Plan would have received $181.5 million less federal funding.

Under Labor's plan, the Sorell Bypass and South East Traffic Solution would receive $104.8 million less federal funding.

This is over $522 million in these three projects alone that would be ripped away from Tasmania, killing hundreds of jobs and economic activity.

Tasmania deserves its fair share of infrastructure funding.

Labor doesn't agree.
