Lack of Confidence in Independent Reviewer's Announcement: Tasmanian Labor

Tas Labor

Today's announcement of an independent reviewer to investigate the appropriateness of Commission of Inquiry related legal assistance grants will give Tasmanians little confidence that the Rockliff government is up to the job of keeping children safe.

The Independent Review was announced on October 17 yet it has taken until now for the government to announce who will undertake this critical work.

To make matters worse, there is no timeline for this work to be completed by, removing another layer of accountability - which has been desperately lacking throughout the Commission of Inquiry process.

This government has demonstrated time and time again how inept they are at holding to account the people who have done the wrong thing by children - what confidence can we take from this update that anything will change?
