A second tagged trout has been caught, this time at Lake Leake, as part of the Tasmanian Government's Tagged Trout Promotion.
There are fourteen tagged brown trouts, each valued at $5,000, still up for grabs.
Minister for Business, Industry and Resources, Eric Abetz, congratulated Lake Leake angler, Phil Bryan, on his catch.
"A fresh catch of Tassie trout with the added bonus of $5,000 sounds like the perfect run into Christmas," Minister Abetz said.
"This is the second tagged trout that has been landed and I congratulate Mr Bryan on his good luck.
"As we lead into the Christmas holidays, it is timely to remind Tasmanians that there is still a chance to bring home a tagged trout – you need to be in it to win it.
"Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future – we're making every opportunity available for our recreational fishers to wet a line.
"We're encouraging Tasmanians to get out this summer, put the waders on, fire up the outboard and get yourself into the great outdoors and in with a chance to land a $5,000 trout."
Fourteen chances to catch a tagged trout remain at the following locations:
To claim a prize, anglers need to catch a brown trout with the correct tag and report the details of the catch, with photo evidence, to the IFS. Fish caught in the Tagged Trout Promotion must be kept with tag intact for verification.
Entry to the Tasmanian Tagged Trout Promotion is open to holders of a current freshwater angling licence or persons aged under 14 who have the permission of their parent or guardian.
