Young people in Lake Macquarie are set to benefit from new funding to help make Youth Week 2025 a citywide celebration.
Non-profit organisations can apply for grants up to $1500 to support Youth Week events and activities.
Youth Week will run from 9-17 April 2025, celebrating the contributions of young people to their communities and providing a space for them to express their ideas and discuss issues important to them.
Lake Macquarie City Council acting Manager Community Partnerships Chris Harle highlighted the positive impact young people have on the community.
"These grants aim to support a variety of engaging and enjoyable events that celebrate our youth," she said.
"We're excited to back a wide range of inclusive and entertaining activities for youths across the city."
A Youth Week committee, including three members of the Lake Macquarie Youth Council, will assess applications.
Events that align with the Lake Macquarie Youth Strategy will be prioritised for funding.
In past years, Youth Week grants have supported activities like colour run events, songwriting contests, fitness sessions, youth festivals and artisan markets for young people.
Applications close 5pm Friday 13 December and can be submitted at lakemac.com.au.
Successful applicants will be notified in February 2025.
