An investigation is underway after a man presented at a Lake Macquarie hospital with a gunshot wound last night.
About 7.50pm yesterday (Thursday 6 March 2025), police were called to a hospital on Sydney Street, Gateshead, following reports a man had presented with a gunshot wound.
Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District attended and were told the 22-year-old man had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.
The man was transported to the John Hunter Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Police attached to Lake Macquarie Police District have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
