Firefighters battled a grass and scrub fire yesterday following sightings of two columns of smoke at Mooroopna North.
CFA was called to the fire at around 11:08am.
District 22 Commander Rohan Taylor said crews arrived to find two columns of smoke building in bushland.
"Once on scene firefighters located a large fire within bushland and requested further resources to help with accessing it," said Rohan.
"Heavy tankers and ultra-light tankers were brought in from throughout the Goulburn Valley to support firefighting efforts."
The fire was approximately eight hectares in size.
It was brought under control by 1:29pm and deemed safe by 4:28pm.
Victoria Police was also called to the scene for traffic management and a community advice message was issued due to the smoke.
CFA crews were initial responders and had 29 vehicles on scene.
The incident was later handed to Forest Fire Management Victoria and CFA remained on scene to support in blacking out the fire.
Final crews left the scene around 4:30pm yesterday afternoon.
