Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service (NTFRS), with the assistance if NTFRS Volunteers and Bushfires NT, fought a large grass fire in Holtze yesterday afternoon.
Around 2pm, a fire ignited in bushland on Pierssene Road behind Palmerston Bunnings and continued toward the Stuart Highway.
The fire crossed multiple containment lines and spread to bushland between McMillans Road and Robertson Barracks covering over 380 hectares.
One facility on Foundation Road was evacuated due to the large amounts of smoke in the area.
Twenty-one career and volunteer Firefighters, 10 appliances and one Bushfires NT observation helicopter were on the scene for 11 hours before the fire was controlled.
NTFRS remotely pilot aircraft systems (RPAS) and crews will continue to monitor the area today.
Acting Deputy Chief Fire Officer Stephen Hunter said "Thanks to the tireless efforts of our firefighters, local volunteers, NT Bushfires and St John Ambulance, we were able to safely contain the fire.
