Laser Strike Incident At Gold Coast

A 73-year-old man has been charged following an alleged laser strike incident on the Gold Coast last night.

Around 10.30pm, POLAIR was conducting patrols over the Labrador area when the aircraft was allegedly targeted by a laser on the ground.

A police vehicle was swiftly dispatched to the address on the ground where officers took up with a 73-year-old man, who made admissions to pointing a laser at the aircraft.

He has been charged with possessing a restricted item and threatening the safety of an aircraft.

He is expected to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on October 14.
