Hundreds of residents in the Mackay region have received support, information and advice at their local community recovery hubs in the aftermath of the recent bushfires.
Acting Communities Minister Shannon Fentiman said the community recovery hubs would wind down in the coming days as communities focused on their longer-term recovery.
"The hubs have been providing residents with the opportunity to connect with support services face-to-face," Ms Fentiman said.
"Locals have been able to talk to community recovery workers, received referrals for support services and those experiencing hardship have been able to apply for grants.
"I encourage affected residents who would still like to access this support to visit their nearest hub as soon as possible."
"Our outreach teams will continue to visit people in their homes and people can always use the Community Recovery hotline (1800 173 349) for assistance."
The following hubs will close on Wednesday 19 December:
- Nelson Street, Mackay (will close at 5pm, Wednesday 19 December)
- RSL, Anzac Parade, Finch Hatton (will close at 1pm, Wednesday 19 December)
- North Street, Eungella (will close at 1pm, Wednesday 19 December).
Emergency Hardship Assistance Grants are also closing in these areas at midnight on Wednesday 19 December.
Ms Fentiman said the need and demand for community recovery hubs and Emergency Hardship Assistance Grants had declined as communities were getting back on their feet.
"These resilient communities are working together to recover from the devastating bushfires and we’re seeing the recovery focus change to things like wildlife, water, fodder and fencing," she said.
"That’s why we are now transitioning to the next phase of our community recovery operations in these areas."
The Essential Household Contents Grants, Structural Assistance Grants and Essential Services Safety Reconnection Scheme Grants remain available for individuals and families affected by this widespread disaster.
People who are experiencing personal hardship due to the bushfires can also download and use the Self-recovery app, go to www.communityrecovery.qld.gov.au or contact the Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349.
